Teletherapy.

Teletherapy is mental health counseling done with the aid of technology. It has been around for many years, but has become much more common in the last few years. You may have also heard it called telehealth. Research has shown that teletherapy can be just as effective as in-person counseling when the therapist and client and engaged in doing the work. Teletherapy can be used for all sessions or only some sessions and can be conducted anywhere in the state of Minnesota (both client and therapist must be in MN with a few exceptions). Added benefits of teletherapy include, but are not limited to the convenience of not having to travel to appointments, not having to deal with bad weather, and less time away from your schedule.

How does it work?

The actually therapy part is the same as in-person. Of course the logistics are different. You will need to find a secure location, meaning that no once can listen in on your session or see your screen. Audio and video recording is not allowed by therapist or client to help maintain confidentiality. It is also helpful to make sure you have a good internet connection before starting your session. You will receive a link to our secure platform before session and connect at your scheduled appointment time. If there are any technical difficulties, you can call your therapist to troubleshoot.

Most insurances in Minnesota do cover teletherapy and telehealth services. Check with your individual policy to confirm that yours does.
